I had to shave my head in january...and my hair is still short! how do I style it?

I had brain surgery in January and I had to shave my head. My hair has been growing consistently but I have had to trim it every once in a while because I feel like it looks messy all the time! Im getting so sick of having short hair. (it looks like my avatar) How can I style is to make it look cute?

make it straight in the front, but make it go different ways, and then spike it straight back in the back.
