I have thick, poofy hair and I want it short and simple.?

I know you're not supposed to cut your hair short with thick wavy hair because it will only puff it out more, but I love short hair. Is there a style that works best for this type of hair? Thank you.

I have Boofy hair. and long. i got a hair cut today and i love it. i got layers and a side fringe. the layers make it light, and manageable. if you have wavy hair like me, we you get the layers it would become more curly. So in school you can change. straighten it and/or moose it, so it will stay curly.
